Our Young Heroine

The story involves a young teen trying to survive a less than ideal home life and even less than ideal school life. Neglected, abandoned, abused, and bullied, our young heroine does her best to navigate the complexities of life in an urban setting. Puberty is proving to be a challenge for her as she comes to discover that, along with the typical physical changes that accompany budding womanhood, she also possesses the ability to do things that go far beyond the scope of human comprehension. While trying to harness her newfound abilities, she grapples with the decision of whether or not she should use her abilities for the good of others…..or if she should turn the tables of power and terrorize those who have caused her lifelong pain.

Brodie V. Preston

Ansonia Jones is a thirty-something novice writer from southeast Louisiana. Having (allegedly) read her first book aloud at the tender age of one, she has possessed a lifelong love of literature and fiction. Books and movies have always served as a means of escape for her, and it is through her career that she hopes to provide an outlet for others to do the same…..in a healthy manner, that is. After reading the Bluest Eye by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Toni Morrison in a Borders bookstore one evening, Ansonia had an epiphany about the type of writing she wanted to do: she wanted to write from the perspective of the marginalized and the overlooked. She wanted to give voice to the voiceless and names to the nameless. That plain Jane who stands in front of you in line at Starbucks may have an extraordinary gift or tale to share with the world. That plain Jane is me and thousands of others like me. Hear us!
Ansonia holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology, so human behavior will  always be a focus of her writing. She has been to Brussels, Paris, London, Amsterdam, and Sicily but has never set foot in New York, Atlanta, Las Vegas, or even Oklahoma despite living in the U.S.A. for most of her life. Pity, isn’t it?
