Announcing The 1st Annual Afrofuturist Art Fair in Los Angeles

Syllble Studios is proud to announce the inaugural 1st Annual Afrofuturist Art Fair, a groundbreaking celebration of Black creativity, speculative imagination, and community power. This event is led by The Roots and Wings Project and Stonehaven Studios, the fair will take place on June 10, 2025, at the Buena Vista Branch of the Burbank Public Library (300 N. Buena Vista St, Burbank, CA 91505) from 6:00pm to 8:00pm PT.

The event marks the official book launch of Blacktopia: Seaborn Rising, the highly anticipated sequel book of Blacktopia: The Royal House Cat set in the Blacktopia universe at Syllble. Set in a matriarchal undersea sanctuary of the 22nd century, Blacktopia follows young inventor Destin Imani as he navigates love, sabotage, and liberation beneath rising oceans.

The fair will feature:

  • Live music performances by nationally recognized musicians Justen Ross and Johnny Tsunami
  • Signed copies of both Blacktopia books, available for free
  • Catered meals, community dialogue, and a spirit of radical imagination

This immersive event is free and open to the public, made possible in part by a Community Arts Grant from the City of Burbank.

We’re currently seeking artists to join us—submit your work through our Open Call for Artist that can be found in our Go Fund Me Campaign.

All donations go directly to artist stipends, free books, and meals, ensuring that this event centers equity, joy, and the future we are building together.

At Syllble, we believe worldbuilding is a revolutionary act of radical imagination. Join us as we uplift Black stories and expand the universe of Blacktopia—through music, art, literature, and community.

See you in the future. June 10. Burbank.
Let’s imagine what’s next—together.
